Rain or shine, we ride!

Hello everyone! I hope it has been a wonderful week back home and wherever else you may be in the world!

It sure has been exciting here in City Heights! To start, whoever told me it doesn't rain in San Diego lied, because it just keeps coming! One of the best parts about being on a bike (haha...) is that when it rains, you get wet, soaked in fact. Elder Sammons and I have had a lot of fun trying to stay dry in this crazy weather, but, we have not succeeded and the work doesn't stop, no matter the forecast!

Another interesting thing from this week is that, after being on a mission, I have learned that just about every missionary has some sort of musical talent... except me. So, naturally, I did the only sensible thing there is to do. I bought a guitar and started teaching myself. We will see how that goes haha.

We have had some cool activities this week, including a fun service we did in old town with our zone. We had the opportunity to help clear up a park that was getting over grown with ivy and other plants. It was cool to see how good the park looked when we were done!

We also had a Charla Misional with the ward we are serving in Sunday night. It was kind of like a fireside where some of the missionaries and members spoke about some basic principles of the gospel, and we as the missionaries serving in the ward sang a musical number together.

I also had the opportunity to attend the temple with the ward and the other missionaries in the ward this week, which was a wonderful and uplifting experience as always!

I hope you all have a wonderful week and I know it's going to be another exciting week here in sunny (hopefully) San Diego!

Love, Elder Hanna

Rain!

Hey everyone it's been a fun, rainy week here in City Heights! We've gotten a lot of rain, and since we're on bikes, you can imagine we got soaked a few times, which is kinda tough. Both me and Elder Sammons got sick this week. It was tough to work through but, that's what we've got to do.

Other than that its been a good week. I finally met Oscar! He is someone that has been working with the missionaries here for a few months and right now were helping him overcome a few challenges he has in his life and it's awesome to see his determination and progress.

We also met two new people this week who have started working with us and we are super excited for them! Their names are Benjamin and Marisol, they both were very welcoming and I feel really good about them and where they will go!

I hope everyone has an awesome week!

City Heights

Hello from City Heights every body! I hope you have all had an awesome week!

My new area is the biking area in Barrio 20 here in City Heights. There are three companionship's in the ward I serve in, like there was in San Ysidro. My new companion is Elder Sammons, who has been out on his mission for about a year and a half. He has been in a biking area his ENTIRE mission, so you know what that means, he leaves me in the dust. Like, its bad, there are a lot of hills here.

But, aside from being slow, I love it here in City Heights! I had fun in Poway, but we spent a lot of time in a car because the area was so big and the Spanish speaking population was so small. But here, we are walking or biking the streets everyday and talking to new people, which I missed.

Banessa was baptized this last Saturday! Words can not describe how happy that makes me! I was unfortunately unable to make it because we don't have a car, but what matters is that Banessa has taken that step to be baptized and has entered into the fold of God! She is such a smart and awesome girl and I know she has big things in her future!

Not much for you guys this week, just that I love the new area, I have an awesome companion, and I'm excited to continue in the work of the Lord!

Love you all!

Elder Nate Hanna

Transfer #2

Hey everybody! I hope you've all had an awesome week back home!

So as the subject line may hint at, I've been transferred again! I'm leaving Poway after just one transfer. Although it was short, Elder Dudley and I have done some good things in Poway after a pretty rough stretch for the area, Banessa's baptism being the highlight! She unfortunately had to have her baptism rescheduled for this Saturday due to some family matters that had to be taken care of, but the thing that matters is that she is all ready to go and will be baptized this week. The unfortunate part about that is, I'm not sure I'll be able to make it back up to Poway for the baptism. I've been transferred down to City Heights in San Diego, onto a bike. So pray I'll be able to find a way up there!

But yes, like I said I'll be in City Heights, serving in a ward called Barrio Veinte. My new companion will be Elder Sammons and we were made District Leaders. I don't know him too well but I know a lot of people who do, and they have told me he's an awesome missionary, so I'm excited to get to work with him.

That's about all the exciting news I have for you guys this week! I hope everyone has an awesome day and week!
